Number of housing units constructed in the I quarter has decreased by 44% compared with the I quarter of last year. The number of permits issued for housing construction declined during the same period by 32%, according to a report of the Central Bureau of Statistics Netherlands. The largest decline in construction was observed in the segment of social housing: the number of constructed facilities and permits fell about I quarter 2009 by 52% and 53%, respectively, wrote Prian. Geographically, the greater the number of new buildings all fell in the provinces of Groningen (72%), Gelderland (67%) and Friesland (62%).
