Mortgage lending in the UK continues to grow

In May the number issued in the housing loans reached 36 709. This is the highest for the current year's figure.

According to the British Bankers' Association (BBA), which accounted for 75% of all issued by the country's new mortgage loans, May was the third consecutive month of growth in housing lending. This is mainly attributable to low interest rates on mortgages, allowing customers refinance their loans. 24,626 loans were taken it was for refinancing program, reports BBC News.

In this case, according to the Royal tax and customs service, the number of completed transactions to purchase housing in May totaled 73,000. This is only 1000 deals more than in April and March this year.

Previously, the Council Mortgage Lenders UK has published its own statistics on the situation in the mortgage sector in the country, according to which in May mortgage lending increased by 7% compared with April, to £ 11,3 million in annualized, this figure rose to 10%. However, the May increase in activity is not particularly pleased by the organization of analysts, because it does not correspond to "historical standards". Furthermore - they expect to reduce the volume of mortgage lending after the announcement of public spending cuts and tax increases in the new national budget.
