Moon Property

Real estate on the Moon actually sold, and the demand for it is truly cosmic. Even despite the fact that the question of "division of property" on the satellite had been settled long ago. Exactly 50 years ago when, under the auspices of the UN adopted the International Code, which was clearly spelled out that any "extra-atmospheric space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation." It turns out that the claim to the moon no one can.

However, over half a century the situation changed somewhat. Have you seen the new governing documents, agreements between governments and space agencies, which, however, the situation is so confused that it is now generally difficult to understand who and what belongs to - and indeed whether to belong. But this confusion and contributed to the appearance here on Earth, enterprising businessmen, who started very cleverly sell lots there in the distant cosmos.

The most famous of space realtors, offering lunar real estate - is an American Dennis Hope. In 1980, he suddenly realized that the moon does not belong to anyone. Examined the "Agreement on Space" from 1967 and realized that the natural or legal persons in this document does not mention! Of course, he decided to take advantage of this situation. First Hope has received in the Land Service of San Francisco, certificate of ownership to the moon and seven planets of the solar system and their satellites and sent to the UN and governments of several countries a letter notifying him of the claim to ownership of celestial bodies. There were no objections from the recipients followed.

Then entrepreneur founded a company on sale of real estate on the moon, which he called Lunar Embassy, and began selling plots for $ 20 per acre (40 hectare). That is, in terms, of 50 cents per hundred square meters. Inexpensive, right? The most interesting is that the business develops and Hope brought him millions of dollars of income: according to the financial performance for 2006 revenue of lunar realtor "is about $ 9 million with staff of his company's claim that during the existence of this strange business, they are not faced with any legal difficulties!

To date, Lunar Embassy sold 1.6 million sq. km section of the lunar surface. Free still remains an area of 32.3 million sq. km ... Every day the company of Dennis Hope sells for 1,500 sites on the Moon. And in the number of customers includes such prominent figures as former U.S. presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter. Incidentally, the company is rumored that the owner of the lunar station and became the current U.S. President George W. Bush. And this is understandable: Bush back in January 2004 announced plans for the United States about the repetition of the flight to the moon as early as 2017. A 2020-meters, according to the American president, on the surface of the satellite will be built lunar base. Given the pace at which is developing a new direction - space tourism and commercial flights into space, we can assume that after 20-30 years really fly to the moon today's homebuyers. To ensure that the site exists, and 20 dollars are not wasted. Or, for example, in order to put a fence or get acquainted with neighbors on a lunar settlement. The way, in addition to "private owners", the lunar property owners have such global hotel chains like Hilton and Marriott ...

So if you up your mind to buy yourself a few hundred square on the Moon, it is likely worth hurry. First, because real estate is bought up by satellite in Earth's lightning. And secondly, because government officials may well prohibit purchase by citizens suddenly land on the Moon. That is what happened, for example, in China. Not long ago, the PRC government imposed an official ban on the acquisition of nationals of the lunar real estate. The Chinese company "Moon Embassy in China", which worked on an American license, managed to sell a total of 34 land on the moon. The main reason that forced Chinese officials to adopt a law banning have become Beijing's plans by 2023 to establish a satellite earth permanent base. But in the immediate plans of Russia flights to the moon and other planets have not yet appear. Although, according to some experts, Russia's base may appear on the moon, but certainly not before 2020.

However, until that decision to buy lunar real estate - is more fun than a serious investment.
